Alistair has given talks regarding his research at Cambridge University MAA U.K., Victoria University, Otago University, Waiwhetū Marae, The Pyramid Club and others.
In 2017 Alistair was kaiako (tutor) at ‘Tōku Reo, Tōku Ohooho’, a series of marae based wānanga initiated and managed by Horomona Horo, teaching the playing of taonga pūoro within traditional mōteatea, contemporary music, improvisation and composition.
In 2015 Alistair was kaiako at ‘Mā te Taringa, Ka Kite’ a taonga pūoro wānanga held at Rangahaua, Whanganui which focused on the making and playing of taonga pūoro.
Alistair regularly visits schools to demonstrate ngā taonga pūoro.
